Atlantic Provinces Political Science Association – 2018 Annual Conference
Call for Proposals
The Atlantic Provinces Political Science Association invites proposals for the 2018 annual conference to be held at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s from October 12 to 14, 2018.
This year’s conference will focus on the theme of Margins, Identity and Borders: Re-Centering Politics to foster discussion on contentious issues of race, social justice and conflict in a period of resurgent nationalism and divisive politics.
Participation is open to all political scientists and others with a scholarly interest in politics, including those from outside of Canada. The APPSA is especially interested in proposals from graduate students, and for the third consecutive year, conference fees for students is $0. Doctoral students may submit their proposals directly to the conference organizers, MA students are asked to submit their proposal with an approval letter from a supervising faculty member, and undergraduate students are encouraged to submit their proposals through a faculty supervisor, but may only participate in the conference if a supervising faculty member is also present.
Proposals from all fields of political science and addressing any topic are welcome.
Please submit your title and 250 word abstract to the conference organizers (Isabelle Côté and Amanda Bittner), at firstname.lastname@example.org. Proposals for panels or workshops are welcome and any questions may be directed to the conference organizers at the same email address.
St. John’s, on Canada’s east coast, is Newfoundland and Labrador’s capital and largest city, and sometimes heralded as the oldest city in North America, with a rich cultural and “foodie” scene. October is locally thought of as one of the best times to visit. The airport, which offers frequent service to all major Canadian centres and connections to Europe and the United States, is located in close proximity to conference hotels and the meeting space at Memorial University. Accommodation information TBA.
Proposal deadline: June 15th, 2018
